BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN INTEGRAL STUDIES
 

The primary focus of the Bachelor in Integral Studies program is to provide the student with the opportunity to take either a multi-disciplinary or specialized approach to an integrative study of the human condition that includes body, mind, and spirit. This program is designed for students who have previously fulfilled their general education requirements to complete their bachelor’s degree. Students develop a foundational knowledge of scientific reasoning, philosophy, psychology, health and religion. With this fundamental base, students plan for advanced learning focusing on the breadth and depth of the human experience.

Residents of the following 29 states and those outside the United States will have the option to complete this program online-through Distance Education-from the comfort of their own home:
AZ, CA, CO, DE, FL, HI, ID, IL, IN, KY, ME, MI, MS, MO, NE, NH, NJ, NY, NC, NV, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, WA, and all countries worldwide.

PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES

Graduates of CIHS's Bachelor’s in Integral Health program will be able to:


  • PLO 1: Demonstrate comprehension and application of theories and processes involved in diverse studies in the human sciences and articulate their transdisciplinary nature, including psychology, integral health, and consciousness studies [ILO 1, 5]

  • PLO 2: Explain empathic and formal communication informed by human interaction, scholarly sources, and basic qualitative and quantitative research [ILO 2, 5]

  • PLO 3: Compare philosophical and scientific paradigms that advance systematic approaches to wellbeing [ILO 3]

  • PLO 4: Identify and prioritize problems in the human sciences in an integrally informed manner [ILO 4]

PREREQUISITES FOR ADMISSION

To enter a bachelor’s degree completion program; an applicant must have a high school diploma and a minimum of 90-quarter credits (60-semester units) or a maximum of 135-quarter credits (90-semester units) from a regionally accredited college or university.

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS

One hundred eighty (180) quarter units (120-semester units) are required to complete the Bachelor of Arts in Integral Studies. Students are required to take at least 45-quarter units in core and elective courses to complete at CIHS.


Courses completed with a grade of C or higher will be considered for transfer credit. A minimum of 90-quarter units (60-semester units) or a maximum of 135-quarter units (90-semester units) from a regionally accredited college or university may be transferred. Students must submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.


In addition to transfer credits, a minimum of 90-semester units (135-quarter units) of mainly general education courses must be completed.


Courses will depend on transferred units or the program, and the majors (psychology, integral health, life physics, or religious studies), which the student has decided to follow. The categories include: Biosciences, Psychology or Spiritual and Philosophical Studies depending on the student’s major course area, and whether the student intends to continue in one of the CIHS graduate programs.

Core courses to be taken at CIHS: 45 ~ 90 quarter units

Elective courses to be taken at CIHS: 45 ~ 90 quarter units

Total units: 180 quarter units

Students in the BIS program will be eligible to apply for one of the CIHS graduate programs during their last year of the program.
