Art & Science of Sound Healing
Frequently Asked Questions
Who are the workshops Appropriate For? Is Previous Experience Required?
The workshops are designed for anyone who has a strong interest in learning about the transformative power of music and sound, including health care professionals, psychologists, clinicians, educators, musicians, singers, sound healers, music therapists, yoga practitioners, body workers and spiritual seekers.
No previous experience in music, sound healing or in any of the aforementioned fields is required in order to register.
What will learning about Sound Healing do for me that makes it worth the investment?
The investment makes sense as the student becomes part of a cohort that creatively collaborates and practice together. They will be taught and mentored by cutting edge masters and pioneers in the field of sound healing with at least 30 years of experience in the field, practice, and research. Students can build lasting professional collaborations and networks with those who share their passion for sound and healing.
Sound Healing Clinics and group presentations will be encouraged among the students, with the intention to promote research and continue building a vibrant community of practitioners.
What can I expect from the curriculum?
Each presenter develops their own curriculum, and the collective thread, or common ground, between workshops. Group discussions, panels, class participation, and interactive practicums are all forms of possible teaching styles. All who attend are encouraged to record via audio/ video so that they can revisit the material.
What do I bring with me? Can I bring my own musical instruments?
All students are welcome to bring their instruments if they play one and this is optional.
Where can I stay if I am coming from out of town?
If you are joining us from out of town, The Best Western Encinitas has reasonable rates and a great view. It is a 5-minute ride to CIHS. There are also a variety of Airbnb’s in the area to choose from.
How can I prepare ahead of time? What resources can I look into?
For individual workshops, we recommend looking into the presenting faculty, as described below. Sometimes we will send a welcome packet with other resources, but in general no specific preparations are needed. Come with an open mind and open heart.
How can I find out more about the presenters?
The Presenting Faculty page has biographies on each of the Sound Healing presenters. We will be complementing these with showcases on the newly established CIHS LinkedIn page, as well as Facebook. You can also discover the presenters by looking for their work on YouTube, Vimeo, and other social media platforms. During the weekends you will be given references to further academic and artistic resources.
