Since we first evolved into the human species four or five million years ago, people have recognized the existence of the spirit and have yearned for spiritual growth, while at the same time also desiring a life that provides material stability. In other words, humankind has always carried the dual desire for spiritual and physical things…..But beginning 400 to 500 years ago, humankind began to develop a scientific perspective that viewed the body as a material object, and people started to shift toward a materialistic outlook….It has only been in the last twenty years that we have taken the first faltering steps toward truly understanding the world of the spirit, invisible to human eyes but essentially present and waiting within our hearts.
