The Science of Gratitude
How do we define “gratitude?” Can it be experienced as an emotion or a virtue, and how does it differ from being thankful? “Gratitude” is the name we’ve given a specific faculty of our soul, that when engaged, instantly connects our awareness to the larger world around us. Gratitude is an acknowledgment and recognition of our universal nature beyond what we typically perceive within the mind/body experience. It is an antidote to egotism. As such, the practice if gratitude is a spiritual path that in the short-term helps heal our body/mind and in the long-term brings us back into realization of the oneness of life and our identity with it. November is signified as a time to reflect on all that makes us experience gratitude. Join us at the Center for Lifelong Learning with Reverend Tiffany Barsotti and CIHS Board Member Dr. Paul Mills for an evening dedication to gratitude. This event provides space for participants to gain a greater appreciation of the power of gratitude and its foundational role in our lives.
