Opportunity: Part-Time Continuing Education Director

 

The California Institute for Human Science invites applicants for the position of Part-Time Continuing Education Director.

 

The Continuing Education Director oversees and implements the development, administration and delivery of noncredit continuing education courses and certificate programs within CIHS; implements and directs the operational and planning activities for continuing education services; and provides input into strategic and financial priorities and objectives for continuing education and implements strategic plans, especially as they relate to developing a WASC accreditation self-study.

 

CIHS is a small, private, graduate institution that was granted WASC Candidate status, in June, 2018. The position is part time for now.  Hours may vary due to needs of the Institute and the accreditation process as well as the availability of the Director.  The position reports to the Institute’s President, Dr. Thomas Brophy.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Identifies strategic properties and objectives for continuing education and implements strategic plans.

  • Directs and implements daily CE operations, including supervising staff, course development, course registration and budgets.

  • Develops collaborative partnerships with CEU (Continuing Education Units) providers, the business community, educational institutions, and state/federal/international entities.

  • Oversees the development of new continuing education and professional development programs based on market demand.

  • Directs and implements marketing efforts to promote continuing education programs to the community, including social media and light website management.

  • Develops and implements policies, procedures and standards for continuing education programs and ensures compliance with accreditation agency regulations

  • Conducts regular benchmarking, reviews reports and performance assessments to ensure CE goals are met.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Individual must possess knowledge, skills and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.

 

  • Knowledge of trends, issues, and accepted practices relevant to the position.

  • Candidates must have strong analytical and problem solving skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse university and local community.

  • Facility with Microsoft Excel and ability to learn and use other basic database systems such as Insightly.

  • Ability to work independently and with a range of departments and personnel, managing and prioritizing multiple projects with the understanding of broader university goals and context of these projects.

  • Takes responsibility to accomplish job assignments within reasonable deadlines.Willing to accept new projects and/or commitments.Does due diligence to complete projects within specified timeframes and/or fulfill commitments.

  • Willingly adjusts to changing work assignments or conditions. Open to changes in operational procedures, technology, and/or organizational structure. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors degree required.  Graduate degree is strongly preferred, or any combination of education and experience that provides the required skills and ability.  Experience in continuing education or event/conference production is strongly preferred.

 

Established in 1992, CIHS is a non-profit 501(c)3 institution and global leader in integral education and research at the interface of science and spirituality.  The 2.5 acre campus is located in Encinitas, north coastal San Diego County.
