Hiroshi Motoyama, Ph.D., Ph.D.
Founder and President of CIHS

Dr. Hiroshi Motoyama (Ph.D., Ph.D., 1925 -) has been exploring the world of mystical experiences since he first began intensive ascetic training at the age of five. He has dedicated his life to elucidating mystical experiences, applying information from other academic areas and using electrophysical and biophysical research to increase the depth and breadth of scientific understanding. He established the Institute for Religious Psychology (Tokyo) in 1960, the International Association for Religion and Parapsychology (headquartered in Tokyo) in 1972, and the California Institute for Human Science (an approved graduate school; Encinitas CA, USA) in 1992 for the purpose of teaching and advancing research in this and related fields.

Dr. Motoyama has received widespread recognition for his work in clarifying electrophysical and biophysical aspects of subtle physiological energy ("ki" energy), including the development of the Apparatus for measuring the functioning of the Meridians and their corresponding Internal organs (AMI), for his farsighted melding of Western and Eastern views of medicine, and for his teachings on the integration of science and religion.
