Chapter IV
The Condition in which Unconsciousness
or Super-Consciousness is apt to appear and
What causes the Condition
The
condition in which unconsciousness or superconsciousness is apt to
appear.
Generally
speaking, unconsciousness or super-consciousness is apt to appear
in the conscious region, when various operations of consciousness
have weakened or stopped. Next I will state each condition in which
each unconsciousness or super-consciousness is apt to appear.
Individual
unconsciousness is apt to make its Powerful and frequent appearance
the moment various operations of consciousness weaken, not stopping.
Or there are occasions when the moment individual unconsciousness
exceeds consciousness in power in spite of the normal operations of
consciousness, individual unconsciousness interrupts conscious operations
or acts for them. (Such a condition is frequently seen in a nervous
disease or hysteria). In consequence, various operations of consciousness
need not stop and become empty and serene in order that individual
unconsciousness appear in the conscious region. What is necessary
is that individual unconsciousness exceeds the conscious region in
power. On the contrary, individual unconsciousness which continues
beyond time and space as long as the individual is reincarnated, super
individual unconsciousness and super consciousness do not make their
appearance until the conscious region stops its various operations
and becomes empty and serene, and individual unconsciousness is also
completely quieted.
