Personality and AMI
By Darren Testani,
Ph.D.
The AMI is a device that
the California Institute for Human Science utilizes in
order to measure the functioning of the meridians and
their corresponding internal organs. In doing so, a two
dimensional graph is produced offering, as one piece of
information, visual indications of where the Chi energy
is focused, as well as the concentration of nervous
energy and immune system function, as seen in the
Overall Balance Chart.
The two dimensional
diagram is artificially divided into four quadrants,
comprising a left and right side, along with an upper
and lower half. Two diagrams are shown, one for
indications of BP, or the equivalent of Chi energy, and
the other AP, or the equivalent of autonomic nervous
energy.
According to some Yoga
philosophy, the right side of the body is called the
“Sun” side which is responsible for stereotypical
masculine traits including aggressive behavior and
logical thought processes. The left side of the body is
called the “Moon” side which is responsible for
stereotypical feminine traits including passive behavior
and creative thought processes.
This appears to go
hand-in-hand with neuropsychology which says the right
side of the body is controlled by the left hemisphere of
the brain. The left hemisphere of the brain specializes
in logical thought processes. The left side of the body
is controlled by the right hemisphere of the brain. The
right hemisphere of the brain specializes in analogical
and creative thought processes.
Could these simple
diagrams of the AMI give us an indication of which
mental processes a person tends to lean towards in using
most often? If a person’s AMI demonstrates a focus of
BP and AP activity on the right side, can we be led to
believe that they emphasize logical thinking in most
areas of problem solving? And conversely, if the AMI
indicates a focus of BP and AP activity on the left
side, is that an indication that this person tends to be
more creative in their abilities? This has yet to be
determined through experimentation and research, but may
prove worth investigating.
