Attendance
Attendance Policies – On-Campus Students
CIHS has adopted the following policies
concerning class attendance. However, the Institute
encourages students to attend all class sessions.
1. Each student is expected to attend all
class sessions.
2. CIHS requires attendance of at least
seventy- five percent (75%) of the on-campus class sessions.
Some on-campus courses may require a higher percentage of
attendance. Students who do not complete a course and/or do
not officially withdraw from a class will receive a grade of
“NC” (No Credit) unless they are eligible to receive an “I”
(Incomplete) grade. For information on class withdrawal

3. On-campus students are encouraged to
inform their instructors of their absence in advance.
4. CIHS instructors are to keep
attendance records for on-campus class sessions. The
original attendance sheet stays in the Admissions and
Records Office.
5. It is the student’s responsibility to
make arrangements with her or his instructor in order to
make up for missed examinations and classes.
Leave of Absence
Students have the right to petition for a
leave of absence. Circumstances requiring a leave of absence
are thoroughly documented by the student in writing. The
document should be submitted to the Program Director. A
leave of absence may be granted for a maximum of one year.
